Sum of roots = −b/a; product = c/a
D = b² − 4ac: D > 0 two real roots, D = 0 one, D < 0 none
Equation with roots α, β: x² − (α + β)x + αβ = 0
Remainder theorem: f(x) ÷ (x − k) leaves f(k)

60-second shortcut · Integer roots from factor pairs

x² − 7x + k with whole-number roots: pairs (0, 7), (1, 6), (2, 5), (3, 4) give k = 0, 6, 10, 12.

Looks like: 2x² − 6x + k: sum of roots = −6/2Actually: −b/a = +3
