CAP handles shortlisting centrally but each New IIM conducts its own Personal Interview (PI) or WAT with institute-specific final selection weightages.
CAP allocates 15% to work experience, the highest among all IIM admission frameworks. Candidates with 24–36 months of quality experience gain a significant edge.
With moderate CAT thresholds (92–96%ile) and heavy work-ex weight, CAP IIMs are particularly attractive for candidates with 2–5 years of experience.
CAP is a centralized shortlisting process where New IIMs pool their interview calls using a unified composite score formula. After shortlisting, each IIM conducts its own PI/WAT independently.
IIM Amritsar, Bodh Gaya, Jammu, Kashipur, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Sirmaur, Trichy, Udaipur, and Visakhapatnam participate in the Common Admission Process.
While the qualifying minimum is 90 percentile, actual call thresholds range from 92–96 percentile for General category. Working professionals with 2–3 years of experience can receive calls at lower CAT percentiles due to the 15% work-ex weight.
